This wine festival takes place the first weekend of February in a village in the Jura (a region in eastern France not far from Geneva). The particular village chosen for this celebration is different each year. Vin Jaune is a golden yellow in colour, not as well known as the typical red, white or rosé wine but is nevertheless very popular amongst wine connoisseurs and has the nickname of "L'or du Jura" ("Gold of the Jura"). The shape of the bottle is also quite different to the typical wine bottle. |
