For those who enjoy the Great Outdoors the Ardèche region is a wonderful place to visit. Located in the south of France, close to Valence it is a great area for camping, kayaking and exploring the gorge, forest and trails.
The Ardèche river meanders for 22 km and is often known as the “European Grand Canyon”, the river having formed a spectacular gorge in the limestone plateau over millions of years. The famous Pont d’Arc is a natural limestone arch and gateway to the rapids of the Ardèche Gorges.
I have visited this area many times with my family; beware though that there are age limits for children for kayak rentals.
